Social Events

When selecting your workshop choices, you will also be asked to indicate if you will be at the optional social events below
Friday 28th September
Early registration, Guest Speaker and Unconference
From 5pm in the Otago Girls' High School Library and Staff Room, included in the price of registration.
(For catering purposes, please indicate your attendance at this event when selecting your workshops.)

The fun begins on Friday night, with drinks and nibbles and a chance to catch up with colleagues from around the country before the conference begins in earnest.  The registration desk will be open from 5pm, before Kyle Mewburn entertains us with details of how her personal journey has impacted on her writing and career.  Following that, there will be an Unconference session - an informal sharing of ideas and tips that will also include plenty of fun!
We expect the evening will conclude around 7.30pm
Thank you to The New Zealand Book Council for sponsoring this evening's speaker.

Saturday 29th September
SLANZA Awards Function
From 5.15pm at Otago Girls' High School, included in the price of registration.
Join us for a celebration of excellence in school libraries and the presentation of this year's SLANZA Awards.
Drinks and nibbles will be provided.

Conference Dinner

From 7pm at the Kingsgate Hotel, Dunedin ($55 per person for a buffet dinner, cash bar available)
Bookings essential - please reserve your place when selecting your workshops.

After the SLANZA Awards, enjoy a leisurely stroll down the hill to the Kingsgate for a buffet meal.  Our guest speaker for the evening is the inspirational and entertaining Julie Woods, also known as That Blind Woman.  Her talks are engaging and she is much sought after on the local speaking circuit.  You will also have the chance to be part of her project to write 1 million names in braille!
Thank you to Wheelers for sponsoring this evening's speaker.
